New in Town is @olio_cy and boy was this a pleasant surprise. With views from Nicosia's 360 tower, overlooking Stasikratous street & the chilled atmosphere, well its this winters go to place 💯 I'm just goona talk about the show stopper in this post.... The steak!! Just look a it 🤤 cooked to perfection, and served with truffle oil that you sprinkle yourself with some herb stems. Two or more can share.... But next time Im having just for me, and then going straight to dessert. Again, just order all the desserts and share, it's more fun that way! We had so many plates to share and all were better than previous. Will definitely show off some more dishes in the future. Honey you were wonderful last night.... I meant @honeymodmedrest 😈 Just walking in the the small streets of old town pafos, we came upon Honey restaurant, and thought... Hmmm. Thankfully we managed to get a table without a reservation (not advised) The food was sooo good, next time I would probably get exactly the same. The Prawns & Scallop in the sauce is a must!! I was sipping the sauce like soup at the end. Then the steak!!! Perfectly Medium Rare... and full of flavour. Also had the most fresh mozzarella salad for starters & finished the night with a huge piece of Tiramisu. Now apart from great food, something I rarely discuss is service. The service here is 💯! Due to demand, here’s the 6 step by step guide to make my @alphamegacy perfect steak Ingredients needed ▢ Any cut of steak - I used Australian Beef Tenderloin ▢ Large grain sea salt ▢ Ground pepper ▢ Extra Virgin Olive oil ▢ Fresh garlic ▢ Fresh thyme ▢ butter How to Cook the Perfect Steak ➊ Make sure your steaks are completely thawed. Remove them from the fridge and allow them to sit outside fridge for AT LEAST 20 minutes. ➋ Put a pan over medium-high heat. Season thawed steaks with a good amount of large grain salt (sea salt) and ground pepper, rub bottom of steaks with excess salt and pepper that has fallen onto table. ➌ Once pan begins to smoke drop 1-2 Tbsp of olive oil in and coat pan in it. Lay steaks away from you into pan and let sear for one minute on each side. There should be three sides you sear (top, bottom, and fat side). Render the fat throughout all the cooking. Note: to render fat, tilt pan up and and lean steaks against far edge of pan ➍ Crush some fresh garlic, pinch off some fresh thyme, grab another Tbsp of olive oil and add it to pan around steaks while continuing to turn the steaks until you achieved the desired cook on each side ➎ Add 2 Tbsp of butter to hot pan and baste the steaks by scooping melted butter on top of the cooking steaks. ➏ Continue basting and turning steaks on the minute until steak is at desired tenderness! Brush steaks with garlic. Remove from heat and place on cutting board and let rest 5-10 minutes, serve and enjoy Optional : After I’ve cut my steak, I personally like to add it to the now cold pan, and cover it on the left over garlic & butter. Prep Time: 20 minutes Cook Time: 10 minutes Total Time: 30 minute I made a simple mash potato and a chimichurri sauce to serve with. * Fresh flat-leaf parsley * Garlic cloves * Dried oregano * Red wine vinegar (or white wine vinegar) * Red chili or Dried chili flakes * Salt and Black pepper * Extra Virgin Olive Oil Add everything except for the extra virgin olive oil to the bowl of a food processor. Process until finely minced Transfer the mixture to a medium bowl and combine with the olive oil. Another new entry during covid times, is @palaia_elia Attempted to go twice but stood impossible during these times, so now was my chance. The cuisine is I would say a mixup between Greek & Cypriot food. Each dish is beautifully presented so its a joy just to see whats placed infront of you. You'll see steak to sheftalies, lamb shank & sausages, classic souvlaki & ravioli. Its a big menu so you'll definitely find something to your likings. The desserts are creations by a well known Cypriot pastry chef... These are one of the best on the island. @flatironsteak was always my favorite go to casual 🥩 steak place, with free popcorn 🍿 when you arrive, and the best cuts of beef 🐄 But recently introduced their Smoked Chilli Cheeseburger 🍔 using their own Flat Iron Herd Beef. I was skeptical on ordering as I had my fair share of burgers these days, and I knew I couldn't go wrong with steak. But last minute I went for the burger and soooo glaf I did so. It just knocked my seven years in a row Bleecker Burger to number 2, taking this to the number 1 slot! I'll be getting it every time from now on! New since I last visited was the Truffled Macaroni Cheese and the Crispy Bone Marrow Garlic Mash. I'll have to order all side dishes from now on! Finally, another nice treat is the free ice-cream!! This is how my weekend started @think30cy on a Friday night! Thisnis Stasikrtous street latest addition in a relaxed environment. The menu I tried was a special introduction tasting menu and have to admit that whatever I tried was exactly what you expect from a restaurant cafe located in Nicosias prime area. Will definitely go again soon to try the à la carte menu and have a the steak that I heard so many good comments about. Ohhh and I simply loved the cryptocurrency inspired cocktail menu. When I posted the stories I had no clue that so many people already knew about this place! They do not have Instagram nor facebook; nothing on social media! Located in Paramali Village, the Restaurant Giannis well known as Giannis Afierosoullas (they nicknamed him Afierosoullas after dedicating a song on the radio many many years ago), welcomes every customer with a big smile and excitement making everyone feel like they are home! Every table gets served a variety of appetizers including a big salad, tahini, hummus, tzatziki, amazing green olives, avocado, potato and beetroot salad and pitta bread all which are included in the price of whatever you choose to order as a main! I went with a medium Diane steak, a perfectly medium cooked meat that literally melts in your mouth! Not the typical Diane sauce we all know but tasty though! My suggestion is to ask for the sauce separately! Every steak comes with a side of fresh fries. Steak cost 24euros and you get to choose from fillet steak or rib eye steak. For desserts we had the apple pie and galaktopourekko, both made by Mr Giannis, served with vanilla ice cream! The apple pie was a clear winner, order it but do not share it like i did! It was such a pleasure visiting this place, as we got to try the delicious food at very reasonable prices and the best part was meeting Mr Giannis who is one of the kindest, welcoming and funny owners! Long time wait, but finally made it to @rousrestaurant after 2 years since I last enjoyed their food experience. For those familiar with Rous, the have a 6 course dining menu that is handpicked creating you a journey of flavours to tickle your tastebuds. Fortunately for me they also have a extended experience and an a la carte menu also. Ended up doing a custom extended a la cart experience 😅 You may see the full menu on rous.com.cy Now as for my experience at Rous, I was utterly glad how it has maintained its glamour but even took it to higher levels. What clearly stood out this time was how the staff is more chilled and friendly than previous years, that I felt more serious but polite. This approach is more welcoming and I'm sure everyone would love it. As for the food, the new Executive Chef since I last came @andreas.yiangoullas would often come out and bring a dish himself which again gave the element of friendliness. Food was outstanding and loved the new menu for the season. My favourite dish surprisingly was the Red Mullet on a bed or Orzo. I mean the steak, rack of lamb, ceviche and other fish plates were all up to the same standerd, it just that I never tried Red Mullet this way before. Atmosphere & Music is superb, and looking forward to try the Chef table experience, that is located in front of the kitchen and you can see all the cooking of the night happening live. Finished the night with two dessert dishes, The lemon eton mess, which I eventually ordered a second. The apple pie is also outstanding. L’ Entrecôte in Larnaca is the only place in Cyprus offering the French “Steak and Fries” concept, serving delicious steak cuts in a homemade butter sauce served with crispy fries, warm baguette and a side salad!
