A hidden gem in Nicosia. @aigaionhouse feels like a little escape to the greek islands. An old archontiko transformed into a beautiful restaurant filled with warm lights, mediterranean flavors, wine, and the kind of energy that makes you forget where you are for a while. ❤️‍🔥

We still have a good few months of summer weather in Cyprus, making it the perfect time for outdoors dinner dates! A few weeks ago we tried the summer menu of @topikamezebar and it did not disappoint. This is everything we got: - Kibbeh-style homemade flatbread (our favorite of the night, full of flavor and the one we’d order again without thinking) - Watermelon dakos with feta and spearmint ice cream (refreshing and different, especially for summer) - Prawn souvlaki (grilled just right, nothing too heavy) - Grilled calamari (simple, well cooked) - Lemony courgette skioufikta (fresh and bright, with that lemon kick that keeps you going back for more) - Dry-aged Cypriot bon filet (tender and rich, more classic) - Shiamishi cream (light dessert to finish off the meal) Overall, it felt like a menu that really works for summer. ΤΟΠΙΚΑ Meze Bar is the perfect spot to enjoy delicious Mediterranean fusion dishes, in a sharing style, along with unique cocktails in the center of Nicosia! 🍹 They regularly update their menu with new dishes, and sometimes bring back some old favorites! This was our second time visiting TOPIKA and we can honestly say that it's a place that consistently delivers delicious food using locally sourced ingredients! A must-visit in Nicosia in our opinion. Here's everything we tried this time around: • Autumn Salad: carrot, beetroot, kolhrabi, cabbage, raisings. smoked almonds, sweet-and-sour dressing - very refreshing and at the same time autumn-appropriate • Cheese loukoumades: mosfilo jam with lavender, sun-dried tomato, chili, poppy seed - tastes exactly like a loukoumas with a cheesy filling plus an added sweetness from the mosfilo jam • Open Meat Pie: minced beef and lamb sweet potato puree, mature cheddar, yoghurt sauce inside a crispy fillo - if you only try one dish from here, make sure it's this one! • Sea bass ceviche: coconut & lime sorbet, pickled cucumber, pomegranate, spicy leche, sweet potato crisps - we especially loved the addition of the sorbet from @laglacerie_cyprus and the crispiness from the sweet potato crisps • Prawn burger: horseradish mayonnaise, beetroot ketchup, wasabi crisps • Dry-aged Cypriot 'Bon fillet' with potato croquette & mushroom purée -cooked to perfection and perfectly matched with the side dishes We also tried several of their cocktails and they were all delicious! #TopikaMeze #NicosiaRestaurants #Nicosia #Cyprus |Meze Bar, Nicosia, Cyprus, Restaurants, Food|

A rather new entry in Nicosia, @kuzuba_ -which in Greek means "grape vine trunk"- is a restaurant that focuses on serving simple dishes with quality ingredients that reflect Cyprus' rich food culture. We loved the restaurant's minimal aesthetic and buzzing atmosphere and we'll definitely visit again during the summer to enjoy the outdoor space! So now at @mayiopoula we have 2 new separate menus, the new lunch menu by @siantris79 & the dinner menu by @andrew_tzo which I'll be trying soon also. @siantris79 operated in old town Nicosia, but now found it's new home at @mayiopoula and available weekdays for lunch. Mayiopoula now serves you classic lunch choices like Louvi, Fasoles, Afelia, Pasta with beef and that lamb with those traditional extra crispy sticky oven potatoes 😋 More menu items are available daily so follow their social media to be informed of menu items. The food is exceptionally good as you would expect from this well established restaurant. Portions are big, so I suggest sharing as to try more of each dish. What another great find in the heart of Nicosia @topikamezebar is! Topika (meaning Local in greek) gets it's name from the concept of the restaurant. All ingredients are local and home grown either from their own plot in Flasou village or neighbouring farmers. These are all used to cook up some tasty, fresh and unique dishes. The dishes are so well balanced between each other, I would recommend getting various from the starter section, 1-2 fresh salads to share and a couple of fish dishes and 1 meat dish. Finally had the most delicious home made Baklava Cheesecake that was the special of the day. I got a couple of DM's to try some more desserts, but I'll save those for another day! Btw, the cocktails here are so refreshing with vibes of summer flavours All in all, @topikamezebar is highly recommended without a doubt!!! New in Town is @olio_cy and boy was this a pleasant surprise. With views from Nicosia's 360 tower, overlooking Stasikratous street & the chilled atmosphere, well its this winters go to place 💯 I'm just goona talk about the show stopper in this post.... The steak!! Just look a it 🤤 cooked to perfection, and served with truffle oil that you sprinkle yourself with some herb stems. Two or more can share.... But next time Im having just for me, and then going straight to dessert. Again, just order all the desserts and share, it's more fun that way! We had so many plates to share and all were better than previous. Will definitely show off some more dishes in the future. Another new entry during covid times, is @palaia_elia Attempted to go twice but stood impossible during these times, so now was my chance. The cuisine is I would say a mixup between Greek & Cypriot food. Each dish is beautifully presented so its a joy just to see whats placed infront of you. You'll see steak to sheftalies, lamb shank & sausages, classic souvlaki & ravioli. Its a big menu so you'll definitely find something to your likings. The desserts are creations by a well known Cypriot pastry chef... These are one of the best on the island.
