So now at @mayiopoula we have 2 new separate menus, the new lunch menu by @siantris79 & the dinner menu by @andrew_tzo which I'll be trying soon also. @siantris79 operated in old town Nicosia, but now found it's new home at @mayiopoula and available weekdays for lunch. Mayiopoula now serves you classic lunch choices like Louvi, Fasoles, Afelia, Pasta with beef and that lamb with those traditional extra crispy sticky oven potatoes 😋 More menu items are available daily so follow their social media to be informed of menu items. The food is exceptionally good as you would expect from this well established restaurant. Portions are big, so I suggest sharing as to try more of each dish. What another great find in the heart of Nicosia @topikamezebar is! Topika (meaning Local in greek) gets it's name from the concept of the restaurant. All ingredients are local and home grown either from their own plot in Flasou village or neighbouring farmers. These are all used to cook up some tasty, fresh and unique dishes. The dishes are so well balanced between each other, I would recommend getting various from the starter section, 1-2 fresh salads to share and a couple of fish dishes and 1 meat dish. Finally had the most delicious home made Baklava Cheesecake that was the special of the day. I got a couple of DM's to try some more desserts, but I'll save those for another day! Btw, the cocktails here are so refreshing with vibes of summer flavours All in all, @topikamezebar is highly recommended without a doubt!!! Simple things🤤at @costas_tavern Don't you just love it when friends call you last minute and tell you 'πάμεν να φάμεν σουβλάκια' (lets go for souvlaki) And they introduce you to a new place with awesome food and a freakishly good time! That was last night. And Wednesday was that day!! What a pleasant surprise from the restaurants ambiance to the mouth watering food. Must try is the Pasta with Beef, Boiled Halloumi, Kolokokiftedes, Saganaki, and fried poulles (instead of potato fries) I could go on about every dish, but I advise you to try out yourselves, and let me know if im right. Look at that perfectly cooked egg 🍳 on the bed of Cypriot sausages 🤤 Finally get all three desserts and share. The Mbaklava with ice-cream is done better than most confectionary stores in Cyprus! 💯 Im not overexaggerating! Another new entry during covid times, is @palaia_elia Attempted to go twice but stood impossible during these times, so now was my chance. The cuisine is I would say a mixup between Greek & Cypriot food. Each dish is beautifully presented so its a joy just to see whats placed infront of you. First Ofto Kleftiko of the season at @estiatoriofarmakas in the beautiful village of Farmakas. Just a short 30min drive from Nicosia, Farmakas Village is a nice escape from the city on those hot summer days. @estiatoriofarmakas does kleftiko every Thursday & Sunday, along with traditional Cypriot food on other days as well. Will definitely be one of my goto places this year for the views and food ❤️‍🔥 P.S. They serve Karydaki dessert... Say no more! 📍Saved

💙LIMASSOL THROWBACK💙 One of the last restaurants I managed to visit before the latest covid measures & lockdown. @proavlio_tavern has to be one of the most unique places to dine under the stars. Proavlio meaning Courtyard, got it's name cause its located infront on one of the oldest churches in Cyprus. The tavern offers up scaled Cypriot meze food. Featured photo is that of Ofto kleftiko! Its a must. Also had the awesome creamy Pastichio, alongside a generous mix grill dish of various meats. Had so many small side dish plates also, all unique in there own way. Friday night & the place to be this summer! Sit back, have a cocktail and share various dishes with friends in the chill atmosphere of @bastione_bar_restaurant Now the food! It's a totally new menu inspired by Greek/Cypriot recipes but with an elevated twist! 😋 The Ravioli with beetroot and stuffed goat cheese is a must to order! Everything was just superb! Seriously, just get the whole menu! We also got 2 out of the 3 desserts so next time I'm going back for the Chocolate pie! Stop expecting your Mum to make you Machalepi! Seriously its a shame to call this a recipe but, Recipe below 👇🏻 • • For each portion, we need 1 huge full spoon of maize starch and 1 cup of water. Thats it! 🤣 For 4 people, add 4 spoons, 4 lukewarm glasses of water into a cooking pot. Turn on the stove to high, and constantly stir till it gets thick. Takes 4-5min. Then in bowls or a pyrex slightly wet the inner surface, and pour the machalepi into your preferred bowls. Now leave to cool down, 20min. Then add a thin layer of water on top and place in fridge to freeze. Finally, I used Stevia Rose cordial, Rose water, Stevia sugar, and Stevia Rose Sorbet icecream by @papafilipou_icecream Also found this beautiful sweet scented Geranium that smells absolutely wonderful! Μαστιχόματα 2020 Quarantine Edition! These traditional Easter Breads with Mastic Aroma and a fluffy inside are to, well lets say break your diet for! Traditionally eaten as is, but I like mine with a layer of Nutella & Marscapone cheese 🤤 #eimeliksis • • Ingredients For the yeast starter * 2 cups warm milk * 4 sachets instant dried yeast * 2 cups of flour • • We need 2 kilos All purpose flour for the whole recipe For rest of loaf * 8 eggs * 500gr unsalted butter * 2 cups sugar * 1/2 tsp ground mahleb * 1/2 tsp ground mastic * Remainder of flour from the 2 kilos • To top * 1 egg mix * Vanilla sugar as desired * Almond flakes as desired • • Instructions• • In a large bowl mix together the warm milk with yeast give a good stir and then add 2 cups of sift flour. And stir again. Cover with cling film and leave to rest for 1 hour • Now that your yeast starter is ready, we add beaten eggs, melted butter, sugar, mastic, mehlepi & the rest of the flour. Mix thoroughly and knead the dough with your hands. Cover with cling film and a towel on top. Let it rest for 4 hrs • Now, tip the dough onto a clean surface and knead for around 5 minutes to stretch the dough. Cut in 6 equal pieces • Each separate piece, slice into 3 logs, and braid your easter bread • Transfer the easter breads to the baking trays, brush with the egg mix, sprinkle vanilla sugar and decorate with almonds on top • Set aside in a slightly warm place for a good 3 hours until it has doubled in size • Preheat oven to 160C. Easy homemade 🇨🇾 Halloumi pies! Recipe 👇🏻 • • Ingredients • * Some Dry mint leaves * 30ml peanut oil * 75ml water * 1 teaspoon salt * 1 teaspoon sugar * 1 sachet yeast * 1 teaspoon baking powder * 500gr Village flour * 300gr Halloumi (more if you prefer) Procedure Beat in mixer the water, oil, sugar and yeast. Then add the rest of the ingredients and beat slowly till you get the desired texture. Usually I add the halloumi last and then just knead it with my hands. You can now place the mixture as a big loaf of bread, or cut to smaller personal bite size portions. Baking I then heat the oven at 100 degrees Celsius . Then switch it off and place the halloumi pies in the oven for 10min so the yeast can rise. Then switch back on the oven at 180 degrees Celsius, and bake for 40min!
