We tried the new restaurant in Nicosia everyone’s talking about! Sumosan Cyprus has officially opened its doors at The Landmark Nicosia Hotel, serving contemporary Japanese dishes and unique signature cocktails in a stylish space. We tried a selection of dishes from the menu, from sushi to some of their unique mains. Imagine having one of only 5 front-row seats with the chef preparing 15 Japanese dishes in front of you - this was our Omakase experience at Shinseina restaurant in Larnaca. The restaurant uses some of the finest ingredients, including high quality fish like bluefish tuna and premium wagyu meat. The rice they use for their nigiris is brought from Japan and served at room temperature to bring out its unique flavor - so you really shouldn’t dip your nigiri in soy sauce! We tried the intimate “Luxury Unfolded” experience, priced at €100/person (reservations mandatory). We really loved the attention to detail, spot on flavors and beautiful atmosphere at Shibui, Limassol’s gourmet Asian spot! We tried the tempura broccoli, served with the best roasted sesame sauce, the salmon tataki and avocado handroll, the gyoza and two of their sushi rolls, the eel/spicy shrimp roll and the Philadelphia roll. Why have a regular sandwich when you can have a sushi sandwich?! This onigirazu (aka sushi sandwich) is really easy to make and you can add any ingredients you like! Make sure to save this reel for later 📌 Ingredients (makes one) • 1/2 cup oriental express sushi rice • 2 sheets of oriental express nori • 1/2 avocado • 2 slices of spam • 2 eggs • Oriental Express sriracha • 1 tbsp light say sauce • 1 tsp sugar For dipping: • Oriental Express sweet chili sauce • Oriental Express wasabi paste mixed with 1/3 cup mayonnaise Cook the rice according to the instructions and let it cool down completely. Cook the spam in a pan until crispy. Mix the soy sauce and sugar together and pour on top of the spam while it's cooking. Let it cook for another minute and set aside. Beat the eggs and make a thin omelet, folded into a square. Place a large piece of plastic wrap on the counter or on a plate with a sheet of nori on top. Add half of the cooked rice in the middle, forming a small square. Top with the omelet, spam, avocado and sriracha sauce and finish with the remaining rice. Take another piece of nori and cut into four equal square pieces. Take one of the squares and place on top of the rice. Wrap the first nori to cover the sides of the sushi sandwich and wrap tightly with the plastic wrap. It doesn't matter if the wrapping is a bit messy, it still tastes delicious! When you love sushi but you have no time for rolling - you won't believe how easy these sushi balls are to make 😎 You can get everything you need to make these at your local @foodhaus.cy or online at www.foodhaus.com Ingredients (makes approx. 6 sushi balls) 1 cup Family Farm Carolina rice 1 1/4 cup water 1 teaspoon salt 4 tablespoons rice vinegar (optional) 12 Ben's easy kitchen shrimps 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 2 tablespoons Develey mayonnaise 1 teaspoon Kikkoman sesame oil 1 tablespoon Kikkoman teriyaki marinade 1/2 avocado 1 green onion Salt and pepper Black and white sesame seeds (optional) Wash the rice and place it in a small pan with water and bring it to a boil. As soon as it begins boiling turn the heat down to the lowest setting, cover the pot and let it cook for 10'. After 10' turn off the heat and let it rest for at least 15' without opening the lid. Cook the shrimps in a pan with some vegetable oil and chop them into small pieces. Dice the avocado and chop the green onion and mix them with the shrimp. Add the mayo, sesame oil, teriyaki marinate, salt and pepper and mix everything together. Transfer the rice into a bowl and season with salt and rice vinegar. Take a piece of plastic wrap and place about two tablespoons of rice on top. Using a spoon, spread the rice into a flat circle. Place a tablespoon of the shrimp mixture in the middle of the rice and begin wrapping the plastic wrap to create a ball by bringing all sides together. Wrap tightly until a solid rice ball is formed and you can no longer see the filling. Unwrap and transfer to a plate. To make the sushi balls look even better, mix some more mayonnaise and teriyaki marinade in a small bowl and drizzle on top of each ball. •🍣 swipe to the end for one of the most unique sushi rolls we tried• 🍹This was our second time visiting @sushiyamacyprus at @ayianapamarina and we couldn't start our dinner without our favorite Ishigaki Island cocktails, which are some of the best we ever tried! 🌊 We find that there's something really relaxing about a sushi dinner next to the sea with a nice view, and this is becoming one of our favorite spots! This time we got the sushi platter so we could try a lot of different options along with some more things from the menu, as well as dessert (keep reading to see everything we got) We have to say, the sashimi is always very fresh here and they definitely have some unique sushi roll combinations! One of the most unique was definitely the Crispy Potato uramaki with truffle mayo - definitely get this one even if you are not a big fan of truffle as it is very balanced, crispy and delicious.
